Greenery - Colour of the Year 2017

Pantone has announced Greenery as its Colour of the Year for 2017

Bringing the Outside in!

Greenery will breathe new life into interiors next year, symbolic of a fresh start, growth and vitality. Whether it's a wall colour, an upcycled accent piece or Doors and Windows, experts have chosen it as the perfect hue for making interiors 'pop' with colour and personality.

Listed in Pantone's spring fashion colour report, and part of a vibrant, modern colour palette, Greenery is described as "a tangy yellow-green that speaks to our need to explore, experiment and reinvent. Illustrative of flourishing foliage, the fertile attributes of Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate."

There's an emerging trend to recycle and upcycle, and while we're embracing eco methods, green spaces and vertical living walls, we're bringing the outside in and we're making nature a centrepiece of our home.

"This exciting colour will allow you to be confident with your paint projects in 2017 and inject vibrancy into your home, whilst its close link to nature will help you feel refreshed and recharged."

A Window Overlooking the Lake

Villa T, Lake Como, Italy
A Window Overlooking the Lake

Is it possible to provide a different interpretation and a whole new meaning to a residence by simply redesigning the interior? This was the challenge taken up by Arkham Project when it was assigned the refurbishment project of a seventies-style villa looking onto Lake Como. In an attempt to unite, why not try to divide: four strips of different colours and materials intersect all of the rooms on each floor of the house.

Colour changes involve all elements without exception, from floor to ceiling, even comprising the swimming pool where it becomes an element of separation between the entrance and the counter-current pool. The lighting system, consisting of a combination of recessed linear elements for ambient and accent lighting underpins the linearity of the spatial layout.

A consistent use of materials, precise details, sharp cornered joints and intersecting lines perform the necessary function of redefining an identity and a new spatial layout.

A window overlooking the lake gives endless light and a fantastic panoramic view.
